From Badge to Big Screen: Jeremy Isaiah Earl Talks Marvel, Auditions, and Becoming Officer Cole North

Updated: 5 days ago

With Daredevil: Born Again heading into its season finale, all eyes are on the cast—and one name in particular is catching attention: Jeremy Isaiah Earl, the actor who brings the gritty and principled Officer Cole North to life.

The New Blerd Order had the chance to sit down with Jeremy for an exclusive interview, and what started as casual conversation quickly turned into an inspiring deep-dive into purpose, passion, and the path from real-life policing to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"I Finally Made It to the MCU"

That was the caption Jeremy posted after his debut aired on Daredevil: Born Again, and it echoed throughout our conversation. This role wasn’t just another line on a resume. For Jeremy, it was the culmination of years of work, sacrifice, and determination.

“Oh man, everything’s good. I’m blessed… just living, taking care of kids—good old regular life, you know?”

Even with all the buzz surrounding the show, Jeremy remains grounded in his day-to-day life as a father. That balance between rising star and real-world responsibility set the tone for our conversation.

When asked how it felt to see himself in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jeremy said:

“It hit me when I saw the credits roll. That’s when it really felt real.”

Bringing Cole North to Life

In the comics, Officer Cole North is a no-nonsense cop from Chicago with a sharp sense of justice and an even sharper edge. Jeremy captures that with a presence that’s calm but commanding—a perfect fit for someone who's no stranger to the law.

“I’m from Chicago. Funny enough, so is Cole North. I worked as a police officer in the city of Markham, and was also on a rapid response SWAT team that served multiple suburbs.”

That real-world experience gives Jeremy an edge. He’s not just acting like he understands police procedure or high-pressure situations—he’s lived them.

“There were days on set where things felt almost too familiar. The posture, the energy, the way you have to read people.”

This familiarity allowed him to humanize Cole North in a way that felt authentic and not over-dramatized. It wasn’t about playing a cop. It was about playing a man with moral conflict, emotional restraint, and a deeply ingrained code of ethics.

Where’s the Mohawk?

Die-hard fans of the Daredevil comics may have noticed that Officer North in the show looks a bit different from his illustrated counterpart. Namely, the missing Mr. T-style mohawk and chinstrap beard.

Jeremy was quick to address it:

“Certain things work great in comics. But when you put it on a real person—on camera—it can get distracting.”

They tested different looks, he says. A goatee. A trimmed beard. But in the end, the producers and costume team went with something that matched the more grounded, grittier tone of the show.

“You’ve got to evolve the character to fit the world around him,” he adds.

The Audition That Changed Everything

For most actors, auditions are nerve-wracking. For Jeremy, this one was different. When he got the callback for Daredevil: Born Again, it was like lightning in a bottle.

“It was one of those moments where you feel like the role was meant for you. Not in a cocky way—just that you understand this character on a deeper level.”

The scene he auditioned with? A tense exchange between Cole North and a fellow officer, where lines between law and morality start to blur.

“It was powerful because it wasn’t just about action. It was about choices. That’s what makes Cole so compelling.”

And when he got the call confirming the role?

“I finally made it to the MCU.”

Not just a line. A declaration.

What’s Next for Jeremy Isaiah Earl?

While Jeremy couldn’t spill any secrets about future episodes or MCU appearances, he made one thing clear: Cole North is far from finished.

“There’s a lot more to explore. The man’s just getting started.”

With a grounded performance, real-life experience, and a genuine passion for the role, Jeremy Isaiah Earl has carved out his place in the Marvel universe—and fans are here for it.

Whether he’s patrolling the streets of Hell’s Kitchen or mentoring the next wave of MCU talent, one thing is clear: Jeremy brings the badge, the heat, and the heart.

The New Blerd Order was honored to get this exclusive. We’ll be watching closely—and you should too.
